11 Life-Affirming Poems About Choices

11 Life-Affirming Poems About Choices

As a serial indecision-maker, I know what it feels like to be paralysed when it comes to making life choices. In the past, I would spend days, weeks and months in inner turmoil, weighing up the pros and cons of situations, trying to predict every outcome, whilst exhausting myself in the process.

Over the years, I’ve come to realise – there’s not really a ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ decision, it’s simply about choosing the best possible path available to you now.

Sometimes the best possible path may not be easy; it may take you on a wild ride of challenges and growth, and other times bring you crazy amounts of joy.

Either way, making decisions isn’t a straightforward process; it’s a journey of life experience and self-discovery, where you learn about yourself along the way. I hope this collection of poetry about choices inspires you today.

Poetry About Choices

1. Choices - Jadine Lydia

i used to think that decisions
were the be-all and end all,
until i realised
that every decision
has its rise and falls
and so i choose
wisely and divinely
to embrace them all.

2. It is Only Heavy - Unknown

3. OPINIONS - Jadine Lydia

others may say that my decisions are wrong
but i stand in my power and hold myself strong
because the truth of my soul knows the way
and with this courage, i start a new day –
owning every choice i make.

4. Changing Things – MHN

5. The Right Path - Jadine Lydia

i choose the best possible path
for what life has in store for me now
and even if it is the wrong decision
it is the right path for now –
i gain clarity, patience and wisdom.

6. Decisions – Rachel Huckel

7. Decisions – Jadine Lydia

is it a slow yes –
or a quick no?

extract from – Simple Truths

8. Midway - Shakieb Orgunwall

9. Pathways - Jadine Lydia

always choose the path unknown,
even if it’s long and winding;
along the way, you may just find
a lover or a lifeline.

10. Paradox of Choice - Elle b.

11. Golden Kingdom – Jadine Lydia

She shifted,
left to right, right to left.
Wobbling around her decisions,
her freedom, her intuition,
her kingdom.
In which she knew existed,
but did not yet live in.
Her inner realms,
golden with possibility.
Her mind lost,
in absolute uncertainty.
Yet she knew.
She always knew.
That she was right,
this was not her life.
It was just another verse,
in her freedom song,
in which she had to let go,
and simply move on.
Swiftly.

extract from – ‘And So She Chose’
