7 Prayers for Strength During the Valleys in Your Life

7 Prayers for Strength During the Valleys in Your Life

On Sunday, 18th of January 2026, I bought my first-ever Bible. The first verse I ever read was ‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.’ (KJV). Throughout the first couple of months of my journey with the Lord, especially during challenging weeks, I would flick open to a random page and lo and behold, I would be shown the same Psalm, again and again and again.

This Psalm has got me through so many storms; like heart balm laced with honey, it soothes my soul when everything ‘appears’ to be going wrong.

I not only love how honestly it describes the challenges of life, with the earth being pulled out beneath our feet, waters roaring and mountains shaking.

It also moves into ‘God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved: God shall help her…’ in Verse 5 (KJV).

Every single time I reach this point in the chapter, I  find a smile at the corner of my mouth, and somehow my initial despair is transformed in an instant with a wild sense of hope and gratitude washing over me.

God’s word is not just about sin. It is about finding strength, courage and hope.

And so, I hope you can lean into these heartfelt prayers and find your God-given strength today, even if right now, it feels a million miles away.

Prayers For Strength

1. Strength in the Valleys - Jadine Lydia

Lord, my strength is fading
and my willpower is jaded,
let me feel your power from within.

As I cross these valleys
never let me forget,
that you are always there.

Give strength to my bones
align my heart with yours,
and guide me at every turn.

As I cross the valley of doubt,
struggle and resistance,
let me believe that you are good.

For I remember now,
all the times
you have saved me before.

And even when I doubted you,
you just kept on loving me more.

4. Bring Light to My Burdens - Jadine lydia

Lord, how long must I endure this situation in my life?
When will it end? How will it end? I see no way out.

I am on my knees, asking for your forgiveness,
your mercy and your blessings
upon any wrong turnings I have taken in my life.

I turn to you now, with an open heart
and an open mind, ready to jump in, out, or through
this current situation in my life.

I wait patiently to hear your voice, because I know,
when I call, you always answer – even if the answer
comes in slow, sustained drops from your heart-centered wisdom.

Allow me to see this situation with your eyes,
as the darkness lifts and my heavy yolk becomes light.

I don’t write about finding strength, courage and hope just for fun. I write about it because finding it is my daily lived experience.

Watch my recent testimony about living with chronic illness, how it’s taken me to the depths of the darkest valleys, and how it has brought me closer to God.
