There are two KEY factors that come in to play when solving big problems with little effort, and reducing levels of overwhelm and anxiety.
1. Take a Small Amount of Action
Whilst I am a big advocate of ‘pray, wait & surrender,’ this isn’t always the best plan when you have rising levels of anxiety.
The longer a problem continues, the higher level of anxiety we may experience. Nip it in the bud and take a small amount of action, that will support you to feel like you are moving forward.
For me, this looked like sending an email to my employer. There was one action that they could take, which would help me in this situation and I asked for this help. As soon as I sent the email, I felt a wave of relief wash over me.
I couldn’t speak to the company I owed money and I couldn’t book a meeting with them, but I could ask my employer to take one small action which would prevent the situation from happening again.
2. Practise a Non-Resistant State
When we are stressing relentlessly about the same problem over and over again, our brain is in overdrive. This state of overdrive will prevent us from accessing higher levels of awareness and creative solutions.
You could say, we are putting up mental resistance.
Find a practise which supports you to drop your mental resistance and the need to have everything worked out. This may look like:
- a simple 15 minute meditation
- chanting to kundalini mantras
- practising yoga/sports/dancing
- playing a musical instrument
- cooking/baking
- doing a crossword/jigsaw puzzle
Anything that will quiet your mind and give it a break!
Personally, swimming has been my recent activity which supports me to get into a state of non-resistance.
As soon as I jump in the pool, and get my head under the water, I am in my flow state. I cannot think, I cannot put my brain into overdrive.
I can simply swim and breathe, swim and breathe.
