Captivating Poems About Women

1. And So She Chose – Jadine Lydia

And so she chose.
To be happy, to be healthy,
to be sexy, to be stealthy.
To throw her hands in the air,
and dance naked under the stars,
to give love, to spread joy,
to play with Venus and Mars.
To trust the divine,
has a much bigger plan,
and when the time is right,
he will fall right into her hands.
And until that time she continues to pour,
pure love and devotion into every pore.
Until she drips in joy and bathes in play,
and devours every moment,
until her last dying day.

2. What’s the Greatest Lesson a Woman Should Learn? – Rupi Kaur

what’s the greatest lesson a woman should learn?
that since day one. she’s already had everything she needs within herself. it’s the world that convinced her she did not.

extract from – ‘‘The Sun and Her Flowers’

3. Her Voyage - Jadine Lydia

She knew, there was
only one way out.
Not over, not under,
but through.
And so she took a deep breath,
dived right in and emerged
as something new.

4. An Ode to Fearless Women

I think your bones
were made in an elsewhere place

How else does anyone explain
this inconceivable strength that makes you.

The way you look into danger’s mouth
and see no cemetery or death.

Instead, carve your name into
it’s teeth with a switchblade,

defeat it so effortlessly
and throw your head back and laugh.

Paradox girl, mighty woman,
you are the thing that terrifies them.

Both monster and maiden, both cure and poison,
all of these things and at the same time human.

Defined by no man, you are your own story,
blazing through the world, turning history into her story.

And when they dare to tell you about
all the things you cannot be,

you smile and tell you about
all the things you cannot be,

you smile and tell them:
“I am both war and woman and you cannot stop me.”

5. Her Light - Jadine Lydia

She let herself crumble
into the ashes of the night,
then she rose as a phoenix
radiating her pure white light.

6. Hold Tight – Donna Ashworth

In those moments, when darkness is unbroken by light, hold tight. To your core. To the belief that there is more. That light will return, and soon. It will crack through the curtains and fill this very room. Stay afloat, by holding yourself like a safety rope. Until someone else can hold you too, the safest place in this world, must be you. Hear the truth. Not the voices who tell you you’re useless and used. You’re just bruised. And bruises heal. Hunker down and feel. This is simply passing through. In the way all feelings do. Hold tight, to you.

7. Her Power - Jadine Lydia

She stood frightened, yet fearless.
Her pupils wide, with hungry eyes.
And in this contrast, she knew.
She was at her most powerful.

extract from – ‘And So She Chose’

8. Violet Flame - Jadine Lydia

The flame within her burned so bright.
She tore down stars,
and brought galaxies to light.
She coursed cosmos and ether,
from her violet heart stream,
her aura alight,
with sun and moonbeams.
She scattered the sky,
with green moldavite,
dazzling white showers
and vast rays of light.
And in this explosion,
she could not be tamed,
for it was her supernova,
it was her violet flame.

9. Her Being - Jadine Lydia

When darkness clouded her infinite being
she gazed into the night,
for that tiny speck of golden nectar
that would be her guiding light.

10. A Pure White Moment - Jadine Lydia

She sank deep down into the centre,
of her barely beating heart.
And asked why this journey,
must voyage so deep into the dark.
A pure, pickled tear,
ran down her mottled skin.
Her soul asked silently
when her life would begin again.
And whilst huddled in this darkness,
cradled by her heart,
she found a void of vastness,
illuminate with stars.
And in this pure, white moment,
of existential bliss,
she discovered that all there was,
was all there ever really is.
And so from that day forwards,
she vowed to embrace it all,
to pickle every teardrop,
and save the best for years to come.
For when it was truly time,
for her to shine her light,
she would paint every teardrop,
as an illuminated sky.

11. Wolf & Woman - Nikita Gill

Some days
I am more wolf than woman
and I am still learning
how to stop apologising for my wild.
